At the heart are 4 looping samplers that are being scanned through by LFOs. This can manipulated by a frequency shifter and widened up by a tape delay and a reverb. The 240 implemented samples make it easy and quick to create new presets besides the 15 given ones. It is possible to import own samples as well.

You can find matching loops via the key-labeling or built ambiances / songs inspired from single files of this great pack. Modular synthesis is still for pushing the boundaries and deliver interesting and modulating / evolving textures and rhytmics here and can even be used for other genres. Last but not least the loops have been left dry for you to add your favourite reverb or other effects.

ChaosLab can play by itself and is also playable via MIDI input. It's basically a modular system that literally configures itself with the push of a button. That way you can create hundreds of sequences / drones / sounds which also can modulate themselves endlessly. Naturally you can also manipulate these outcomes with all the given controls and shape them further, this goes for beginners and advanced users alike, because a lot of effort went into the fine tuning of all the dials so that it always sounds interesting. This instrument is a fruitful inspiration machine, you could use the output directly or maybe record it and further design the sound, maybe cut out pieces, or feed a granular sampler with it, or play it rhythmically with your MIDI controller / keyboard.
